International Conference in Riyadh

The second International Conference of the International Association of Police Academies (INTERPA) on “Contemporary Issues in Education, Training and Scientific Research in Security fields” was held in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) from 13 to 19 April 2013.
The purpose of the conference was exchange of best practices in the field of professional preparation of police personnel abroad, organization and coordination of international cooperation of police academies.
The working languages of the conference were Arab, English, Turkish and Russian.
The event was organized by the King Fahad Security College (analogue of the Police Academy), as one of the Association members. The representatives from police academies, higher schools and colleges from 47 countries (Tajikistan, China, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Moldova, Malaysia, Serbia, Slovakia, Albania, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Egypt, Ukraine, Tunisia, Botswana, Ethiopia, Senegal, Sudan, India, Turkey, Palestine, etc.) took participation in the conference this year. The number of participants of the conference has increased from 34 to 47, which shows a great interest of educational institutions of other countries to the Association.
Tajikistanwas represented by the following people: Head of MIA Academy of the Republic of Tajikistan– Major General Rozikzoda A., Head of the 2nd faculty of the MIA Academy of the Republic of Tajikistan - Lieutenant Colonel Sharipov F. and representative of the Counter Terrorism and Police Unit of the OSCE Office inTajikistan - QurbonovU.
According to the agenda of the conference, all participants were divided into three main sections:
1) Faculty (teaching staff) Development in Police Academies
2) Use of Technology for Police Education, Training and Research
3) Curriculum Design and Development
Each of the sections, in its turn, included relevant topics.
During the election process of the Executive Committee members, which are re-elected every two years, Tajikistan was selected as one of five members of the INTERPA Executive Committee. The INTERPA General Council has made a decision to increase official languages of the Association, including the languages of the INTERPA website (www.interpa.org): English, Turkish, Arabic, and Russian. It was also decided to issue monthly electronic periodicals of the Association, where all its members could include their scientific researches. The periodicals will facilitate a broad exchange of information and experience within the framework of curriculums of Police Academies of the members of Association, and it will be available on the website of the Association.
The video records of presentations of all police academies, provided by the countries for further and more detailed introduction were distributed to all participants of the conference.
In general, participants of the conference have noted that exchange of experience in preparing police personnel is a key factor of international cooperation development of countries in the field of police education.
As a reminder, the first annual conference of the Association of Police Academies was held in April 2012 in Antalia (Turkey) titled as “Police Comparative Education” with the participation of 25 countries.
